Koncar KET, in partnership with the Austrian company Strabag AG, last Friday signed a contract for the construction of hydropower plant Vranduk in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On Friday, 8th of January 2016, at the headquarters of the public company Elektroprivreda BiH in Sarajevo, the contract for building a hydropower plant Vranduk Bajazit Jašarevic was signed. The contract, worth around 60 million euros, was signed by Besim Imamović - Elektroprivreda BiH d.d., Dragan Pavelić - Strabag AG and Mišo Jurković for Koncar - Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc (KET).
"This is a very important project for Koncar which already has numerous references in the construction and renovation of hydropower plants, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also around the world. We are glad that we smanaged to get this project, together with Strabag, among strong competitors. We are aware of the importance it has for Elektroprivreda BiH, and we will prove once again that we are a reliable partner in the most complex activities, "said Miso Jurkovic, CEO of Koncar - KET.
This is the first new hydroelectric power plant in the system of Elektroprivreda BiH in the post-war period, and will be located on the river Bosna, in the municipality of Zenica. At the international tender for the construction of this facility on a "turnkey", the best offer given by a consortium of Strabag AG and KONČAR KET was selected.
Koncar - Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc (KET) will be responsible for the design, manufacture and delivery of the entire electric equipment, as well as its installation and commissioning. Beside KET, other companies in the Končar Group took part in the delivery of the equipment: KONČAR - Generators and Motors Inc., KONČAR - Electronics and informatics Inc., Končar-Distribution & Special Transformers Inc. and Končar – Switchgears Inc. Partner in constructing turbines is the company Voith from Austria.
Hydro power plant Vranduk will be the diversion type, with installed capacity of 20 MVA and planned annual production of about 100 GWh. The deadline for completion of the project is 46 months.
KONČAR - Generators and motors (GIM) produced and delivered one of the greatest engines ever.
Earlier this month Koncar reported that it delivered one of the biggest engine so far. Special high-voltage, slip ring motor, type 6AKO3A 900S1-12, with the power of 2 MW, 495 r / min, 3000 V is designed to work in a cement factory in Israel. Due to the location of the company, engine has a tropical design and is constructed for an ambient temperature up to 50 ° C.
The customer is very satisfied with the cooperation with GIM and it announced new orders for the needs of their production in other cities.
