Vallourec has won a contract with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe to provide a full package of tubular requirements for its projects of building new blocks for coal fired power plants in Poland and Greece
The package consists of at least 10,000 tons of boiler tubes which will mainly be produced in Vallourec’s Saint-Saulve tube mill (France), and will for the major part be delivered in the first half of 2016. It includes Vallourec’s super high-corrosion resistant boiler grade VM12 which offers excellent oxidation resistance up to 650°C.
This contract is the result of the long term strategic partnership with MHPSE established many years ago, and proves the customer’s trust in Vallourec’s capability to execute complex project orders for demanding projects.
In Turów (Poland), MHPSE will build a new 500 MW block, which adds up to the existing six blocks with a capacity of 1,500 MW, and is planned to be connected with the grid in 2019.
Ptolemais V is a 660 MW turnkey lignite project in the North of Greece, around 500 km from Athens, where a number of older lignite units (Ptolemais II-IV) are already in service. The new, highly efficient Unit V is set up to start building in 2016. Commercial operation is planned for 2019.
